One of the most well-known anointing oils is the "Holy Anointing Oil" or "Chrism," which has deep roots in biblical times. It's mentioned in the Old Testament, particularly in Exodus 30:22-25, where God instructs Moses to make a sacred anointing oil composed of myrrh, cinnamon, calamus, and cassia mixed with olive oil. This oil was used to consecrate objects and people for religious purposes.
